Phase Three: Restoring Resources
Wetlands in Huntington Beach, Calif., before (left) and after (right) restoration which improved connections with the ocean. (Gordon Smith, Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy)
The final step of a Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) is the restoration implementation phase, which includes conducting the restoration and monitoring its effectiveness.
DARRP works with its partners and in some cases with the responsible party to perform the restoration work.
Examples of common restoration projects include:
- Replanting wetlands.
- Improving fishing access sites.
- Creating oyster reefs.
