Raising Awareness of NOAA Resources for Disaster Recovery
April 12, 2021 — NOAA continues to deepen engagement with the federal Recovery Support Function Leadership Group (RSFLG), advancing the stewardship component of the agency’s mission by aiding communities in disaster recovery.
As the coordinating body for federal agencies engaged in disaster recovery support, the RSFLG is a valuable forum for interagency information sharing and collaboration, which the Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP) supports by serving as NOAA’s Action Officer to the RSFLG.
The week of April 5, Autumn Lotze, the OR&R DPP Natural Resource and Community Recovery Specialist, presented to members of the RSFLG about the breadth and diversity of NOAA resources that can support communities in planning for and recovering from disaster. The presentation highlighted programs, tools, and expertise from across the agency, including contributions from the National Ocean Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, Office of Ocean & Atmospheric Research, and National Weather Service.
DPP looks forward to supporting continued interagency dialogue and partnership opportunities through RSFLG engagement, with the overarching goal of better positioning the agency to aid partners and communities in future disaster risk reduction and recovery efforts.
