OR&R Staff Attend Office of Coastal Management Tribal Engagement Workshop

MARCH 28, 2022 — The Assessment and Restoration Division’s Megan Ewald and the Marine Debris Program’s Peter Murphy attended a multi-day virtual workshop, hosted by the Office for Coastal Management, titled Tribal Workshop: A New Lens for Engagement.

Attendees heard from indigenous experts from a wide range of tribal nations and backgrounds on the nuances of engaging with members from Indigenous communities, tactics for respectful cross-cultural communication, and identified areas that NOAA can improve our interactions with tribal communities.
