OR&R’s You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know Lecture: Andrew Lipsky of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center

OCTOBER 25, 2021 ─ Wind Farms. Why do we not see more of them on our coastlines? There is an obvious push to go green, use sustainable technologies for power, and for good reason but at what cost?

Last week, at OR&R’s latest You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know lecture, we learned about conversations that are being held and research that is being conducted by the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) on the implementation of the Wind Farms from Andrew Lipsky, Fisheries and Offshore Wind Lead. Mr. Lipsky highlighted the effects offshore wind development will have on the fisheries of the Northeast and interruptions to fish stock surveys. Also discussed were limitations to where wind farms can be installed and what the draw is for implementing them in the Northeast rather than Alaska?
