The purpose of the meeting was to gather local, state, federal, academic, and non-governmental parties together to embark on an ambitious project: Remediating the industrial legacy toxins that lie in the sediments of the Christina River and Brandywine Creek. Local officials, including Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, were in attendance. 

Tom Brosnan presented on work in Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDA) both in Delaware and across the country. Robb Wright presented on the ERMA and DIVER spatial data tools, and how data management and sharing is critical when coordinating with many partners. As a resident of the Wilmington area, Simeon Hahn contributed both experiences with contaminants in urban waterways and local expertise. 

The workshop gathered experts to share their knowledge and brainstorm ways to come together and return the urban rivers to a fishable and swimmable state. It was an exciting step in the next phase of revitalizing the Christina River and Brandywine Creek.
