OR&R Represents NOAA at Urban Waters Federal Partnership Meeting
AUGUST 9, 2021 ─ On August 5, 2021, OR&R Director Scott Lundgren represented NOAA alongside other senior agency representatives from the 15 Departments and Agencies participating in the Urban Waters Federal Partnership (external pdf factsheet). Senior leaders from the Department of the Interior and EPA convened this meeting to build relationships and connections, provide leadership-level support for the partnership, and discuss future actions for the program as it approaches its 10 year celebration.
Scott brought examples of how NOAA’s science, service, and stewardship programs support urban communities, including the support by OR&R highlighted in a series of web articles on how our office works to keep urban waterways clean and recover after pollution. This series covered our work on marine debris, oil and chemical spills, and spill and waste site restoration in and with urban communities, efforts which are connected to several Urban Waters Federal Partnership sites.
