OR&R Represented at National Ocean Service Employee Recognition Ceremony

DECEMBER 16, 2019 — The week of December 2, experts from the Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) were recognized at the National Ocean Service 2019 All Hands and Employee Recognition Ceremony at NOAA headquarters in Silver Spring.

NOS Acting AA Nicole LeBoeuf and Dr. Neil Jacobs, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction represented NOAA leadership and gave remarks on how each of the award recipients contributes to NOAA’s mission. 

Four people from OR&R received awards. Robb Wright received the NOS Employee of the Year Award Award for his work using spatial data tools to support hurricane response. Dr. Lisa Dipinto received the Peer Recognition Rafting for her efforts in working across line offices to develop new solutions for oil spill containment. Barbara Barnett received the Team Member of the Year Award for her outstanding leadership in administrative and training services, and Simeon Hahn received the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Diversity Award for reconnecting disadvantaged urban communities to marine habitats and increasing their exposure to the mission of NOS. 

Dr. Brian Stacy from the National Marine Fisheries Service also received a Peer Recognition Rafting Award after being nominated for his work collaborating with OR&R on the recent Oil Spill Response and Assessment Guidelines for Sea Turtles technical memo. 

Simeon Hahn delivered heartfelt remarks on his work in environmental justice and youth development in his home city of Wilmington, Delaware and how NOAA’s work can have a positive impact on communities, as well as marine environments.
