This is just one of the revelations from Dr. David Wiley's research with advanced monitoring and tracking technologies on humpback whales. As part of the part of the OR&R lecture series, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW, last week on Sept. 3, Dr. Wiley walked the audience through findings that included coordinated and cooperative feeding activities by humpbacks in the darkness of depth using sonic queues. His work in understanding and protecting these amazing animals has earned him the Department of Commerce Gold Medal for Scientific Leadership and many other accolades.
