Notice of Interagency Marine Debris Coordinating Committee Public Meeting

SEPT. 19, 2022 — On Sept. 29, 2022, the Interagency Marine Debris Coordinating Committee (IMDCC) will hold a virtual public meeting, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET. The public meeting will focus on federal efforts to address abandoned and derelict vessels.

Representatives from the NOAA Marine Debris Program, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the National Park Service will present, along with opening remarks from Scott Lundgren, director of NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration.

Established by the Marine Debris Act (33 U.S.C. 1954), the IMDCC is a multi-agency body responsible for coordinating a comprehensive program of marine debris research and activities among United States federal agencies, in cooperation and coordination with nongovernmental organizations, industry, academia, states, tribes, and other nations, as appropriate. Representatives meet to share information, assess and promote best management practices, and coordinate the federal government’s efforts to address marine debris.

Attendance will be limited to the first 100 individuals to join the webinar and there will not be a public comment period. Find information on how to participate and the agenda on the IMDCC webpage, or by reviewing the Federal Register Notice. The meeting will not be recorded, although any meeting materials will be made available on the IMDCC webpage.
