The regional collaboration team brought together NOAA scientists from all line offices and Cooperative Institute partners—Sea Grant, Cooperative Institute for Great Lakes Research (CIGLR), Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS), and Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS)—to discuss NOAA’s work in the Great Lakes. The diverse team works on high profile issues such as rising water levels, climate change, and water quality in the Great Lakes.

The Great Lakes Scientific Support Coordinator LCDR Rachel Pryor is the OR&R representative on the team and presented lessons learned from the NOAA internal tabletop exercise held last February and planning updates for the Harmful Algal Bloom Workshop scheduled for December 2022. As a result of the network the Regional Collaboration team provides, LCDR Pryor has shared emerging technologies and advancement in oil and ice research to the Regional Response Team that directly increase planning and preparedness for the region.
