Nicolle Rutherford to Present on ESI Program for OR&R Lecture Series
JAN. 18, 2022 — The You Don't Know What You Don't Know Lecture Series from the Office of Response and Restoration kicks off its third year this week with a presentation from Nicolle Rutherford on the Environmental Sensitivity Index program.
Nicolle is the ESI Program manager, in addition to her roles as a biologist and CAFE program manager, and she sits within the Emergency Response Division of OR&R.
ESI maps and data have many uses, but were primarily developed for planning and response to oil and chemical spills, with compiled indices showing the sensitivity of different shoreline types, as well as the presence of vulnerable biological and/or useful human resources. Learn how ESI products answer the question “what should I protect?” for emergency responders from ERD and partners across the country.
Building off of the recent release of the report for the Next Generation ESI Workshop, there have also been many conversations about what the future of ESI mapping looks like, and Nicolle will touch on some of these potential new directions as well.
To learn more, please join the lecture on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. EST through Adobe Connect.
