Canada Multi-Partner Research Initiative Advisory Committee and NOAA Updates
NOVEMBER 2, 2020 — OR&R Director Scott Lundgren and Senior Scientist Lisa DiPinto joined the Canadian Multi-Partner Research Initiative (CAMPRI) Advisory Committee held virtually on Wednesday October 28. CAMPRI is part of the Canadian National Oceans Protection Plan and is mid-way through five years of research that draws upon the expertise and experience of oil spill experts in Canada and internationally.
Scott participated as part of the CAMPRI Advisory Committee. Advisory members previously provided input on research needs and priorities, and in this meeting heard updates on the progress of the research program with a goal of identifying linkages and issues. The awareness of ongoing research will facilitate further sharing of this information within NOAA and the home organizations of other committee members.
Lisa provided an update to the Advisory Committee on three NOAA projects supported by CAMPRI contribution agreements, including on the enhancements to the NOAA ADIOS Oil Database, Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique and Termination Enhancements, and comparing advances in estimating oil thickness.
These projects are described at the project summary level on the CAMPRI site, and the following projects and products have been released based on this work: Response Guide for Sunken Oil Mats, and workshops and reports related to the Response Oil Assay and Oil Thickness Estimation projects.
