NOAA Experts Attend RESTORE Science Workshop on Marine Mammal Health

MAY 2, 2022 – Last week experts from OR&R’s Assessment and Restoration Division (ARD) participated in a workshop held by the National Marine Mammal Foundation and NOAA’s Restore Science Program.

The multi-day workshop was aimed at better understanding the total impacts of multiple stressors on the health and populations of marine mammals.

Marine mammals are exposed to a wide variety of stressors, ranging from natural disasters to human-made threats like pollution and boat traffic. Understanding how these different threats impact their overall health, both for individual animals and at a population level, is essential for making decisions that protect marine mammals.

OR&R participants included Michele Gielazyn, Susan Snyder, Bryand Duke, Dan Hahn, Kevin Kirsch, and Laurie Sullivan (participating virtually).
