Marine Debris Program Virtual Outreach in the Great Lakes
MAY 17, 2021 — Following Earth Month, the MDP's Great Lakes Regional Coordinator Sarah Lowe has been participating in some virtual outreach!
Over the past three weeks, Sarah has presented information on marine debris to approximately 130 virtual attendees at the Minnesota Daughters of the American Revolution Conference and shared an overview of the issue at a virtual Indiana Master Watershed Steward's meeting. She has also been interviewed by inquisitive 4th graders studying ocean pollution at Fernway Elementary School in Shaker Heights, Ohio and shared information on marine debris with kindergartners at Washington Local Elementary in Tiffin, Ohio.
The NOAA Marine Debris Program works with partners in region to prevent marine debris from entering the Great Lakes through education, outreach, and removal projects. The NOAA Marine Debris Program is proud to be part of numerous outreach initiatives that aim to increase awareness of this issue and get people involved in the fight against marine debris.
