Marine Debris Program Presents at Mote Marine Laboratory Symposium on Marine Pollution

April 12, 2021 — On March 30, Ashley Hill, the Marine Debris Program’s (MDP) Florida and Caribbean Regional Coordinator, presented about marine debris initiatives and citizen science opportunities during a three-part Marine Pollution Symposium. 

The symposium, hosted virtually by Mote Marine Laboratory and the Barrier Island Parks Society in Florida, was attended by more than 30 interested members of the public. The sessions focused on a variety of impacts and solutions of marine pollution, including marine debris. Ashley’s session included information on the MDP’s Monitoring Debris Monitoring and Detection Assessment Project, and other activities in the region. In addition to the MDP, the series featured speakers from Mote Marine Laboratory, Florida Sea Grant, Keep Lee County Beautiful, Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Coastal and Heartland National Estuary Partnership.
