Marine Debris Program Keynote at Texas Plastic Pollution Symposium
NOVEMBER 12, 2019 — On October 29, Caitlin Wessel, the NOAA Marine Debris Program’s Gulf of Mexico Regional Coordinator, delivered a keynote address to almost 200 people at the Texas Plastic Pollution Symposium.
The second annual Texas Plastic Pollution Symposium was held at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas. Caitlin Wessel gave the keynote presentation alongside Ken McQueen from EPA, Region VI. Caitlin’s message focused on the role MDP plays as the national lead for marine debris issues, as well as on future priorities and funding options.
The symposium was attended by almost 200 people of diverse backgrounds, from teachers to local government to non-profits and scientists. Twenty-one presentations focused on research, prevention, and policy were held at the Moody Gardens IMAX Theater on the largest screen you can imagine.
