Disaster Preparedness Program Participates in Region IV Regional Response Team Meeting
FEBRUARY 24, 2020 — On February 4-6, 2020, members of NOAA’s Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP) and Emergency Response Division (ERD) attended the Regional Response Team IV Winter Meeting in Franklin, Tennessee.
The RRT IV consists of federal and state government agencies and private sector organizations that work together to protect public health, safety and the environment by ensuring coordinated and effective support to significant oil and hazardous substance incidents within Federal Region IV (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi).
The RRT IV is committed to the development and coordination of preparedness activities prior to a pollution incident. For Charles Grisafi, the Southeast Regional Preparedness Coordinator, and Genwest contractor for the DPP this presented an opportunity for engagement. Presenting on the DPP, Charles highlighted how the DPP can support preparedness needs in the region; including training, exercises, and workshops, as well as being a preparedness and response liaison to the National Ocean Service.
The presentation was well-received and moving forward Charles will represent the DPP on the RRT IV Training and Education sub-committee.
