Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC) Program Year Sixth Annual Meeting

MAY 18, 2020 — The week of May 11, OR&R scientists participated in the Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC) Program Year Sixth Annual Meeting. The ADAC works with international, federal, state, local, tribal, industry, and academic partners to advance domain awareness of the Arctic region.

ADAC is a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Center of Excellence hosted by the University of Alaska, with research conducted at their campuses and across a network of academic and industry partners in the United States and Canada. Due to social distancing and travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's meeting was held as a marathon virtual two-day meeting. The theme was “Securing Science and Technology Success for the Coming Arctic”, with a focus on transition into application. The meeting included a "fireside chat" with NOAA’s own RDML Gallaudet discussing current challenges and emerging technologies to address those challenges, and also a comprehensive summary review of the Center’s current research endeavors. Many of the highlighted projects involve OR&R scientist input and participation.
