We might think of these storms as natural phenomena, but in the modern era they are not a mystery. Scientists well understand how these storms form and NOAA does a phenomenal job predicting and forecasting typical cyclone formation and movement. 

NOAA has many responsibilities with respect to hurricanes including forecasting, monitoring, preparing for, and responding afterwards to the impact and assisting in recovery. If you live in an area where such storms threaten, you have an added responsibility to yourself, your family, and your pets to be prepared with a readiness plan. 

NOAA’s Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP) has partnered with the Coastal Response Research Center (CRRC) to facilitate three webinars focusing on NOAA’s hurricane preparedness and readiness for personnel (people), mission, and infrastructure (PMI). The April 20, 2022 webinars will communicate best practices and lessons learned from the 2021 hurricane season and recognize future challenges for 2022. There is a Pacific Islands session set to start at Noon in Hawaii making it an evening session for those in the Eastern time zone. 

On April 21, the focus is on NOAA tools and resources available to support planning and response activities. The NOAA Deputy Under Secretary for Operations (DUS/O), Ben Friedman, will provide opening comments followed by a wide collection of speakers from across NOAA and close external partners.
