Jamie is excited for this opportunity to continue to work in the field of environmental response and protect such a beautiful area of the country.

“When I started becoming involved in marine environmental response in the Coast Guard about 15 years ago, I recognized that the NOAA SSCs had a fascinating job in that they got to be involved in both emergency management and all of the scientific disciplines that were involved in a response. I realized back then that it would be awesome to be a SSC someday, so I am very thankful to be part of the team again in this capacity,” she said.

Jamie has worked for NOAA for nearly seven years as a NOAA Corps officer. Previous assignments in NOAA include the Aircraft Operations Center, Office of Response and Restoration Headquarters, Office of Marine and Aviation Operations Headquarters, and the research vessel Ronald H. Brown.

Prior to joining NOAA, Jamie was the operations manager for a marine oil spill removal organization that supported offshore oil exploration in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas. Earlier positions in the private sector involved emergency preparedness in Alaska's maritime and energy industries.

Jamie served in the U.S. Coast Guard before joining NOAA, in various positions in afloat operations and marine safety, serving over seven years of active duty and five years as an actively drilling reservist.

Jamie earned a master's in environmental management, and she is also a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Aside from the marine sciences, her interests include competitive swimming, travel, and backpacking.

Jamie has two daughters, Anna and Rachel, who enjoy joining her on camping trips.
