NOV. 25, 2019 — On Nov. 16, Mark Manuel, Pacific Island regional coordinator for the Office of Response and Restoration Marine Debris Program, participated in the Friends of Waikiki Aquarium Fall Fest Event.

This annual event provides members and the public with hands-on activities to spread awareness of local environmental issues and the organizations working to address them. The Marine Debris Program engaged individuals with a fun marine debris plinko activity that explores the pathways, sinks (disposal) and recycling opportunities of common household debris items found on Hawai‘i shorelines. Other participating organizations included the city and county of Honolulu, Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology, University of Hawai‘i Marine Mammal Stranding Lab, Outrigger Resorts, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Children's Center, Honolulu Zoo, Paint For Your Soul, Our Project in Hawai‘i’s Intertidal (OPIHI).
